A Beautiful June Garden Wedding at Long Hill in Beverly, MA | Liz & Pat

Long Hill | Beverly, Massachusetts | June Wedding | Garden Wedding

There are some wedding venues that are beautiful, and then there are venues that feel like they were made for a wedding.

Long Hill in Beverly, Massachusetts is definitely the latter.

Liz and Pat’s June wedding was everything I love about a New England summer wedding: a gorgeous garden setting, a beautiful tented reception, plenty of time outside, and a group of people who were very clearly ready to celebrate.

As a Boston wedding photographer, I absolutely love when a wedding venue has that kind of personal connection.

Getting Ready at the Salem Waterfront Hotel

Getting Ready at the Salem Waterfront Hotel

Liz started her wedding day at the Salem Waterfront Hotel, one of the best-known hotels in Salem and a great starting point for a North Shore wedding day.

She got ready there before heading over to Long Hill, where she finished getting ready and put the final touches on her wedding-day look.

I love when a wedding day includes more than one location because it gives the story a natural progression. We get the excitement and anticipation of getting ready, then the transition to the venue where everything comes together.

And with Salem and Beverly being so close to one another, Long Hill is a really convenient option for couples who want to incorporate Salem into their wedding weekend.

A Romantic Ceremony at Long Hill

Liz and Pat kept their ceremony short, sweet, and incredibly romantic.

There was no need to make it complicated. They exchanged their vows surrounded by their closest family and friends, and then came one of my favorite little details of the day: guests blew bubbles as they processed back up the aisle.

It was such a fun and joyful way to end the ceremony, and it made for some pretty adorable photographs.

I love when couples incorporate something simple like this into their Long Hill wedding ceremony. It didn't take over the moment or feel overly planned—it just added a little bit of fun and gave everyone a reason to celebrate the second Liz and Pat were officially married.

And let's be honest, there's something about a bubble exit that makes it pretty hard not to smile.

If you’re dreaming of a garden wedding in Massachusetts, Long Hill is pretty hard to beat.

The grounds are absolutely lovely, and June was the perfect time for Liz and Pat’s wedding. Everything was green and lush, and the gardens gave the entire day a relaxed, romantic feeling.

Rather than having guests spend the entire cocktail hour sitting at tables, they could actually wander through the gardens and enjoy the property.

And I think that's one of the things that makes a wedding at Long Hill so unique.

Your guests aren't just attending a wedding.

They're experiencing the property.

They can grab a drink, catch up with friends, take a little walk through the gardens, and then eventually make their way back toward the party.

It's a really lovely way to structure a wedding day.

A Gorgeous Garden Cocktail Hour

The cocktail hour at Long Hill was one of my favorite parts of Liz and Pat's wedding day.

The gardens created such a beautiful backdrop, and guests had the freedom to walk around and enjoy them while they mingled.

From a photography standpoint, I love this kind of cocktail hour because it naturally creates opportunities for candid photographs.

People aren't all standing around in one place waiting for the reception to start. They're moving, talking, exploring, laughing, and enjoying themselves.

And those are exactly the moments I want to photograph.

Some of my favorite wedding photographs happen when nobody is thinking about having their picture taken.

A Tented Reception Under the Summer Sky

After cocktail hour, everyone made their way into the tent to celebrate.

There is something about a New England tent wedding that just feels like summer.

The gardens surrounding the tent, the open-air feeling, the beautiful June weather, and the ability to step outside whenever you want all come together to create such a fun atmosphere.

And at Long Hill, you don't have to choose between a beautiful reception space and an amazing outdoor setting.

You get both.

Guests could dance inside and then wander back out into the gardens whenever they needed a break from the dance floor. It made the whole evening feel relaxed and effortless.

And let's be honest—sometimes you need a five-minute break from the dance floor before heading back in for round two.

Candid Wedding Photography at Long Hill

My approach to wedding photography is pretty simple: I want you to actually enjoy your wedding.

We'll absolutely take time for portraits and the family photos that you'll want to have. But I'm also looking for everything happening around those moments.

The people you invited.

The way your friends react to seeing you.

Your parents trying not to cry.

The laughs during cocktail hour.

Your guests wandering through the gardens.

The ridiculous dance moves.

The quiet five minutes you sneak away together.

Those are the photographs that tell the story.

And Long Hill gives you so many opportunities for that kind of documentary wedding photography because the property itself encourages people to explore, relax, and enjoy the day.
