There’s something pretty special about photographing a wedding at the Omni Parker House in Boston. It’s historic, elegant, completely Boston, and there are so many little details throughout the hotel that make it feel like a place with a story.
Alexandra and Dom’s spring wedding there was especially memorable—not only because they had a beautiful day, despite the rain, but because they were the very first couple to get married in the Omni Parker House’s newly renovated reception space. How cool is that?!
As a Boston wedding photographer, I’m always excited when I get to photograph a wedding somewhere with so much character, and this one definitely did not disappoint.
Everything Happened at the Omni Parker House
One of my favorite things about a wedding at the Omni Parker House is that you can truly have your entire wedding day in one place.
Getting ready? Onsite.
Ceremony? Onsite.
Reception? Onsite.
Couple’s portraits? Yep, you can do those onsite, too.
For Alexandra and Dom’s wedding, we had two photographers there for the day, which meant we could document even more of what was happening. While one of us was with Alexandra, the other could be with Dom and his side of the wedding party, capturing all of those little moments that happen simultaneously.
I love this part of having a second photographer. Weddings move FAST, and there are always things happening that you don't want to miss.
And when everything is happening inside the same beautiful Boston hotel, there are photo opportunities around practically every corner.
The First Wedding in the New Reception Space
Okay, this was a pretty big deal.
The Omni Parker House had recently renovated its reception space, and Alexandra and Dom were the first couple to host their wedding there.
The newly renovated space was beautiful and made such a great backdrop for their reception and celebration. I also love that their wedding will forever be a little piece of the history of the venue.
They weren't just another wedding at the Omni Parker House—they were the first wedding in this new space.
That’s something pretty special to be able to say.
A Little Rain Wasn't Going to Stop Us
It wouldn't be a Boston spring wedding without the possibility of rain, right?
And yes, it rained.
But we weren't about to let that keep Alexandra and Dom from getting outside for some portraits together.
We found a break in the weather and headed outside for their couple’s photos. And honestly, I’m so glad we did.
There is something about rainy wedding photos in Boston that I absolutely love. The streets are wet, the light is soft, and the whole city feels a little moodier and more romantic.
Plus, these aren't the kinds of photos you can get on a perfectly sunny 75-degree day.
Sometimes the weather that you were worried about all morning ends up being one of the things you love most about your gallery.
And if you know me, you know I'm always going to be willing to work with whatever the day gives us. Rain? Let's grab an umbrella. Five minutes of sunshine? Let's run outside. Completely unexpected chaos? Even better.
That's real life, and that's what I want your wedding photos to feel like.
Spring Wedding Photography in Boston
I love spring weddings in Boston for so many reasons. After a long New England winter, the city starts to wake back up, and there's something fresh and exciting about the season.
It's also a great time for couples who want the experience of a downtown Boston wedding without necessarily having to spend their entire day traveling around the city.
At the Omni Parker House, you have the history and charm of one of Boston's most iconic hotels, while having everything you need right there.
And when you're working with a rainy spring day like Alexandra and Dom did, having a beautiful indoor space is definitely a bonus.
The Kind of Wedding Photos I Love to Make
When I photograph a wedding, I'm not looking for 10 hours of everyone standing perfectly and smiling at the camera.
I want the stuff that actually happened.
The nervous laughs.
The hugs.
The people who got a little emotional.
The ridiculous dance moves.
The look you gave your partner when you thought nobody was watching.
The little moments with your parents and friends that you didn't even realize were happening.
Of course, we'll make time for portraits and the photos you know you'll want hanging on your walls. But I want the majority of your gallery to feel like you were actually there.
That's especially important on a wedding day like Alexandra and Dom's. With two photographers and everything happening onsite, we could move through the day without constantly pulling them away from their guests.
They got to enjoy their wedding.
We got to document it.
That's my favorite combination.
